David Heald, from Warrington, left his job as a customer service engineer in October 2007 due to his illness—his previous role involved extensive driving and the symptoms of tiredness and numbness left him no choice but to leave for the benefit of himself and the company. After rekindling his love of martial arts, David discovered the benefits exercise had on his MS and now follows a fitness regime.
The 28-year-old’s passion for exercise inspired him to find a job in the thriving fitness industry. In four weeks, he completed an industry recognised qualification at the new Centre of Excellence for Fitness in Manchester, which is an approved training provider for the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure. He has since earned himself a voluntary role at Alive & Well health and fitness centre. David also has a job interview lined up for a paid role where he will complete his NVQ, a work-based award highly valued by the best fitness employers.
