For some industries, the nature of the work and the equipment or technology involved means that site-based training centres are the most appropriate.
Example: The National Skills Academy for Construction
The construction industry has created a network of training centres located on-site at major construction projects. Clients, contractors and local training providers get together to identify the training and development needs for a project, and agree how best to deliver the training. The first such centres were set up on the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and wider Thames Gateway project construction sites. These local centres are supported by a skills academy ‘hub’ co-ordinating national quality standards, the sharing of best practice principles and innovative training techniques.
