IT

The IT sector is critical to the success of the UK economy. There are over a million people working in IT the UK, with thousands of new recruits needed every year.

As a knowledge-based industry, IT relies on professionals with cutting-edge skills to drive it forward. That’s why it’s vital we have the right training and qualifications in place.

Although there is a wide range of IT courses available, it can be hard for employers to identify which ones are really valuable. The lack of a common endorsement standard means that the training landscape can be confusing and purchasers find it difficult to track down the right provision. While many employers offer in-house training and skills development programmes, the skills gained are often not recognised outside the organisation.

The National Skills Academy will help employers find their way through this maze by identifying the best courses and qualifications, and mapping them against e-skills procom, the training framework for the IT profession.

This will enable employers to identify training that meets their needs, find the right provider for them, and get best value for their training budgets. The process will also facilitate creation of new training provision in areas of need.
